This opportunity is for the role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at one of Sonesta's properties. The Assistant Restaurant Manager functions as the right hand to the restaurant manager, playing a critical role in leading and managing the hotel's restaurant operations. This position ensures that the restaurant meets and exceeds the expectations of the brand’s target customers while maintaining high employee satisfaction. The role involves hands-on leadership including coordinating food and beverage services, overseeing safety and sanitation protocols, staff hiring, training, and performance management, as well as maintaining operational standards. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will actively work the floor to guarantee flawless service delivery and guest satisfaction.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the position requires supporting property-wide strategies by collaborating across departments to align restaurant services with overall hotel goals. The role also involves managing labor scheduling, conducting inventory audits, and ensuring compliance with local liquor and food safety regulations. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in a restaurant supervisory or management role
  • High school diploma required
  • College degree strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a union environment highly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
  • Ability to motivate restaurant staff and maintain a cohesive team
  • Must be able to suggestively sell menu items, beverages, and wines
  • Must be able to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties

Job Duties

  • Assist in coordinating, planning, preparing, and executing food and beverage services
  • Follow up on guest feedback
  • Assist in hiring, training, promotion, and firing of restaurant employees
  • Ensure adherence to Sonesta safety and sanitation standards and local regulations
  • Coordinate daily menus with Chef and educate the team
  • Work the floor to ensure flawless execution and resolve complaints
  • Inspect room and tables for proper setup and cleanliness
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Ensure closing duties for staff are completed
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
  • Assist in managing all aspects of the restaurant department
  • Conduct scheduled inventories
  • Prepare and adjust weekly work schedules
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and review daily information with staff
  • Assist in annual performance evaluations
  • Coach team with specific feedback
  • Establish open relationships with staff and food & beverage team
  • Motivate employees and foster a trusting work environment
