Job Description

Don's Prepared Foods is a leading manufacturer on the East Coast specializing in prepared gourmet deli salads, gourmet cream cheese spreads, dips, entrées, and other high-quality food products. As a family-owned business, Don's has grown its portfolio to include over 130 unique products distributed under three major brands: Don's Salads, Melanie's Medleys, and Artisan Deli. The company is committed to delivering exceptional taste and quality to its customers, leveraging decades of industry experience alongside innovative production techniques. Don's Prepared Foods operates its manufacturing facility in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, where it upholds the highest standards of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to join our QA team at the Schwenksville food manufacturing plant. This is a salaried, exempt position with a standard work schedule from 8AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday. Reporting directly to the QA Manager, the role plays a pivotal part in ensuring strict adherence to Don's quality standards, food safety requirements, and the company’s SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification. As an integral backup SQF Practitioner, the Assistant QA Manager collaborates closely with all plant departments to maintain optimal safety and quality controls throughout production.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food safety management, including hands-on experience with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), SQF standards, and regulatory audits. Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistency in following established protocols are essential qualities for success. Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred, as it enhances communication within our diverse team and supports bilingual training initiatives. The Assistant QA Manager is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving SQF program requirements to not only meet but exceed regulatory and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities include conducting internal audits, issuing corrective actions, coordinating trainings, and managing documentation associated with quality and safety standards. The role also supports supplier and ingredient approval processes, organoleptic evaluations of finished products, HACCP program reviews, and updates to company food safety procedures and SOPs. The Assistant QA Manager will actively participate in both internal and external audits, including those conducted by the FDA, USDA, customers, and military standards, ensuring compliance at every stage.

An additional focus area is the development and deployment of bilingual training programs within the company’s Alchemy Training system. This involves obtaining translated training materials, engaging employees effectively, and utilizing feedback mechanisms to reinforce learning and reward food safety champions within the workforce. The Assistant QA Manager also aids in label review and manages responses to customer complaints with the goal of safeguarding customer satisfaction and upholding Don’s reputation for excellence.

Joining Don's Prepared Foods means becoming part of a dynamic, family-driven company recognized for its commitment to quality, innovation, and employee development. We offer a collaborative work environment where the QA function is highly valued and empowered to make a meaningful impact on product safety and quality. If you are passionate about food safety and quality assurance, and you thrive in a detailed, team-oriented environment, we encourage you to apply and help us continue our tradition of delivering delicious and safe gourmet prepared foods to consumers across the East Coast.
