Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) is a well-established leader in the electrical construction industry with a rich legacy spanning over 70 years since its founding in 1954. Located in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and San Jose, California, CEI has developed a reputation for delivering complex, high-profile projects that significantly impact communities and infrastructure. As part of Quanta Services (PWR: NYSE), North America's largest employer of skilled craft labor, CEI is recognized for its commitment to integrity, innovation, and safety across all its operations. The company prides itself on its problem-solving approach, a strong safety culture, and a collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement. CEI's commercial team is made up of strong project management professionals, in-house engineering resources, and skilled union personnel. Together, they work seamlessly to deliver unique and innovative commercial projects tailored to meet the unique needs of their clients across various markets. The company offers a competitive compensation package with salary ranges between $97,500 and $128,000, reflecting geographical labor market factors, combined with a comprehensive benefits program designed to support employees' professional and personal needs. This particular opportunity is primarily on-site or office-based, with travel frequency and duration that vary by project requirements and timelines.

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) role at Cupertino Electric is a vital position responsible for collaboratively managing complex construction projects, ensuring effective communication and coordination between the field team, project team, vendors, and subcontractors. Reporting directly to the Project Executive, the APM assists in the review and tracking of essential project activities such as change orders, submittals, and related project documentation. They play a pivotal role in facilitating team learning and lead meetings to drive project progress. APMs are expected to bring innovative, entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving capabilities, along with technical knowledge and robust communication skills necessary for effective project leadership and coordination. They should have experience working on semi-remote job sites and familiarity with large electrical or data center construction projects. This role provides an exceptional career advancement opportunity by empowering the Assistant Project Manager to execute at a Project Manager level within a supportive team environment. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and continuous feedback, APMs develop critical thinking and strategic planning skills integral to future leadership roles. This position requires at least three years of experience as a Project Engineer in electrical construction or general contracting with MEP experience, along with a minimum of five years related experience including minor project management. A valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States are mandatory, and the role does not offer sponsorship. Educational qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required. The company highly values continuous process improvement, encourages innovative approaches to work, and places strong emphasis on legal and ethical hiring practices and equal opportunity for all applicants.
