The Assistant Manager - Bake Shop is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the daily operations and production of baked goods, ensuring that each product meets the high-quality standards set by Healthy Living. This role demands a hands-on approach to baking and production, where the assistant manager follows exact recipes and menu rotations to maintain consistency and excellence. Beyond production, the role requires a strong leadership presence, as the Assistant Manager will lead, mentor, and motivate the Bake Shop team. This includes fostering a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement while maintaining strict standards for cleanliness, hospitality, and food safety.
An integral part of the Assistant Manager’s duties also involves managing inventory and ordering supplies strategically to balance cost control with quality and freshness. They will be responsible for overseeing special and custom orders, ensuring accuracy and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with other departments, particularly the Deli/Prepared Foods Manager, to coordinate scheduling and staffing during busy periods and contribute to the overall success of food service operations.

Job Requirements
- At least 5 years baking experience in a professional kitchen
- at least 2 years management/strong supervisor experience, preferably in a professional kitchen or restaurant environment
- experience in executing systems and procedures to provide for efficient and productive kitchen operations
- knowledge of food procurement and inventory management
- previous experience working with local, organic products and familiarity with standards regarding local, organic produces is preferred
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Produces bakeshop products and follows menu rotation as instructed
- follows all Healthy Living recipes exactly as written
- maintains consistent quality products and makes product to HL standards
- follows the production numbers provided by R&D chef
- knows when modifications are permissible and how to properly record the changes
- ensures all finished products are labeled appropriately and stored according to department protocol
- follows the protocol for recording production and waste
- maintains a meticulously clean and organized work area during a shift, and cleans work area and helps with closing duties at the end of each shift
- maintains an in-depth knowledge of products
- shares knowledge with others
- willing and able to assist other areas as needed
- owns and ensures accuracy of SPOs and custom orders
- lead and manage the bakeshop team, ensuring a collaborative, positive, and high-performing environment
- train, mentor, and motivate bakeshop staff, holding them accountable, provide feedback, deliver exceptional guest service, maintain cleanliness, and uphold food safety standards
- works with P&E to interview and hire staff
- coordinate scheduling and staffing with the Deli/Prepared Foods Manager to ensure departments are adequately supported during busy periods
- support Deli/Prepared Foods Manager with stay interviews (30-day check in) with newly hired and promoted staff
- assist Deli/Prepared Foods Manager in approving weekly timecards, processing TCCs, and weekly tips calculation spreadsheet for payroll
- assists in the review process for staff
- provides insights, feedback, and observations to the Deli/Prepared Foods Manager regarding staff’s performance to assist with the completion of the review
- foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- manage inventory within the Bakeshop
- order supplies, ingredients, and packaging timely, balancing cost control with the need for quality and freshness
- reduce waste by implementing effective inventory rotation, portion control, and efficient ordering practices
- ensure that all food safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and health codes are strictly adhered to across the Café departments
- ensure compliance with all food handling, temperature controls, and hygiene standards
- monitor quality control processes to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation
