Job Description

Park Hyatt Aviara is an iconic luxury resort located in San Diego, California, recognized as one of the region's premier destination locations. This AAA Five-Diamond resort has recently undergone striking renovations that showcase impressive architecture and a stunning natural environment. Set within 200 lush acres of scenic beauty, Park Hyatt Aviara offers guests a unique blend of sophisticated and approachable luxury. The resort boasts a world-class spa, an 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, and a comprehensive range of recreational and relaxation opportunities. It is a place where guests experience high-end service combined with the charm and character of its Carlsbad location, making it a standout choice for travelers seeking both comfort and distinction.

The role available is that of an Assistant Pastry Chef, a critical position within the culinary team of the Park Hyatt Aviara's food and beverage operations. The Assistant Pastry Chef is responsible for mastering all pastry and baking operations to consistently produce high-quality products that exceed guest expectations. This role demands strong culinary skills, with expertise in creating delicious pastries and baked goods while maintaining impeccable standards for food quality and presentation.

This position requires daily oversight of production processes, ensuring consistency, and managing staffing levels effectively. The Assistant Pastry Chef is also tasked with training department staff, fostering a culture of excellence, and facilitating communication between team members and other departments. This role supports cost control initiatives and requires the use of computer skills for scheduling and inventory management. With a responsibility to step in and lead in the absence of the Pastry Chef, this position is a leadership role that blends culinary arts with operational management.

The salary range for this position is $56,800 to $75,000, reflecting the resort's commitment to competitive compensation based on experience and education. Employment at Park Hyatt Aviara comes with a comprehensive benefits package, which underscores the hotel’s dedication to employee wellbeing and professional growth. Benefits include complimentary employee meals and parking, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid holidays and vacation, 401K retirement plans with matching contributions, employee stock purchase opportunities, and access to educational reimbursement programs, among others.

Joining the team at Park Hyatt Aviara means becoming part of a world-class hospitality environment where quality and guest satisfaction are paramount, and where employees are valued and supported. The Assistant Pastry Chef role offers an exciting opportunity to enhance your culinary career within a prestigious resort setting with abundant chances for professional development and personal fulfillment.
