Job Description

The Ritz-Carlton St. Louis is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Pastry Team Lead to join their Food and Beverage culinary team. This full-time management position offers an hourly wage ranging from $27.88 to $37.02 and includes a comprehensive benefits package, bonus eligibility, free parking, and complimentary employee meals. This role is vital to maintaining the high standards of quality and creativity expected by The Ritz-Carlton brand in all pastry offerings.

As Pastry Team Lead, you will exhibit creative baking and decorating talents by preparing consistent, high-quality pastries that meet both guest and employee expectations. You will be responsible for assisting in leading the pastry team, managing day-to-day operations, and stepping in to perform various employee duties as needed. The position requires a keen focus on upholding sanitation and food safety standards, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining superior quality in product presentation and flavor.

The role demands strong leadership and interpersonal skills to encourage, influence, and build a cooperative team environment. You will work alongside the Executive Chef to develop menus and new pastry products, maintain equipment, and troubleshoot any malfunctions. Additionally, this role involves managing supplies and inventories according to the budget, supporting food and beverage portion and waste controls, and prioritizing daily pastry operations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum 3 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage or related professional area
  • or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience
  • ability to lead and manage a team effectively
  • knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations
  • proficiency in baking and pastry preparation
  • strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • eligibility to work in the United States

  • monitoring and providing service behaviors that exceed customer satisfaction
  • managing day-to-day operations ensuring quality and standards

  • interacting with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
  • supporting achievement of culinary goals associated with pastry products
