Job Requirements

  • Must have a Food Handlers Certification
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, reach overhead, lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to work in fast-paced kitchen environments with varying noise levels and temperatures
  • Must communicate effectively one-on-one and via two-way radio
  • Ability to read instructions, reports, and log sheets
  • Ability to work with computers and PDAs under various lighting
  • Ability to analyze and process written information
  • Must work safely with chemicals per SDS sheets and regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Five years experience in food/pastry
  • High level of creativity
  • Knowledge of French, Viennese, and American pastries
  • Expertise in cake decorating and show pieces
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
  • Knowledge of safe use of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Computer proficiency with Windows and Excel
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Organized, flexible, responsible, and reliable
  • Self-motivated and energetic
  • Ability to follow instructions from Pastry Chef
  • Team leadership skills
  • Promotes good work ethics and a positive work environment
  • Availability to work varied shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Provide support to the Pastry Chef
  • Motivate, supervise, and counsel pastry shop employees
  • Fill out requisition forms daily maintaining proper par stock
  • Attend Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings
  • Ensure pastry shop cleanliness and compliance with health codes
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, terminating, and counseling staff
  • Assume full responsibility of pastry department when Pastry Chef is absent
  • Ensure proper and consistent production of all food products
  • Provide quality products that are timely, fresh, and meet quantity needs
  • Accommodate special requests from other departments
  • Coordinate production of all baked goods and dessert items ordered by outlets
  • Participate actively in developing new dessert items
  • Perform other assigned duties
