Job Requirements

  • must have food handlers certification
  • must have five years experience in food or pastry
  • must be able to work varied shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • must be organized and flexible
  • must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, reach overhead, lift and carry up to 30 lbs
  • must be able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • must be able to communicate effectively with guests and co-workers
  • must be able to read and follow instructions and log sheets
  • must be able to work safely with chemicals according to regulations

Job Qualifications

  • five years experience in food or pastry
  • high level of creativity combined with ability to handle production
  • knowledge of French pastries, Viennese pastries, and American pastries
  • expertise in cake decorating and show pieces
  • knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures
  • knowledge of the safe use of commercial kitchen equipment
  • computer knowledge including windows and excel
  • ability to make decisions and resolve issues
  • excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • organized and flexible
  • able to work well under pressure
  • responsible, reliable, punctual, self-motivated and energetic
  • ability to follow instructions from the pastry chef
  • team leader promoting good work ethics and a fun environment
  • availability to work varied shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • food handlers certification

Job Duties

  • provide support to the pastry chef
  • motivate, supervise, and counsel pastry shop employees
  • fill out requisition forms daily ensuring proper par stock of all food items are maintained
  • attend BEO meetings
  • ensure the pastry shop is clean and compliant with health codes
  • make recommendations regarding hiring, terminating, and counseling of staff to the pastry chef
  • assume full responsibility of the pastry department in the absence of the pastry chef
  • ensure proper and consistent production of all food products at all times
  • provide quality products that are timely, fresh, and meet quantity needs
  • accommodate special requests by other departments
  • coordinate production of all baked goods and dessert items ordered by outlets
  • actively develop new dessert items
  • perform other duties as assigned
