Job Requirements
- Physical exam and tuberculosis screening resulting in a negative TB diagnosis prior to employment
- Clearance or exemption approval from the Department of Social Services following FBI and DOJ livescan background check prior to employment
- Minimum of 2 years assistant pastry chef experience
- Must be able to work Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Must comply with kosher kitchen guidelines
- Must be able to maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen
Job Qualifications
- Assistant Pastry Chef experience of 2 years
- Knowledgeable in a variety of recipes applicable in a kosher guideline kitchen
- Ability to use a knife and other cooking equipment
- Understanding temperature and cooking time
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy under pressure
- Must read, understand, and sign the Report of Suspected Physical Abuse of a Dependent Elder (SOC341A)
- Ability to create and execute a variety of recipes to attend to kitchen needs
Job Duties
- Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and confections for meal services, special events, and the café, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation as directed by the pastry chef
- Review the daily menu with the kitchen team at the beginning of each shift
- Assist with decorating baked goods using glaze, icing, or other toppings to achieve the desired appearance
- Maintain a clean and organized pastry kitchen adhering to health and safety regulations
- Ensure all equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored properly
- Assist with dishwashing and distribution of clean dishes when needed
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff to fulfill kitchen needs
