Job Requirements

  • Assistant Pastry Chef experience of 2 years
  • Must undergo a physical exam and tuberculosis screening, resulting in a negative TB diagnosis prior to employment
  • Must obtain clearance or exemption approval from the Department of Social Services following FBI and DOJ livescan background check prior to employment

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in a variety of recipes applicable in a kosher guideline kitchen
  • Ability to create and execute a variety of recipes to attend to kitchen needs
  • Ability to use a knife and other cooking equipment
  • Understanding temperature and cooking time
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy under pressure
  • Must read, understand, and sign the Report of Suspected Physical Abuse of a Dependent Elder (SOC341A)

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and confections for meal services, special events, and the cafe, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation as directed by the Pastry Chef
  • Review the daily menu with the kitchen team at the beginning of each shift and assist with decorating baked goods using glaze, icing, or other toppings to achieve the desired appearance
  • Maintain a clean and organized pastry kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations, and ensure that all equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored properly
  • Assist with dishwashing and distribution of clean dishes when needed
