Job Description

Roseville Area Schools is a distinguished educational institution committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Located in the Roseville area, the school district serves a diverse community of learners and is dedicated to academic excellence, equity, and personal growth. Roseville Area Schools places a strong emphasis on fostering a respectful and equitable educational experience for every student, family, and staff member, regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, home or first language, religion, national origin, age, or physical appearance. The district is known not only for its educational standards but also for its strong community values and support systems that aim to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed and love learning.

The role of Assistant Nutrition Manager at Roseville Area High School is a critical position within the school’s Nutrition Services department. This full-time, school-year role operates five days a week for approximately nine months, closely following the academic calendar. The position requires working seven hours a day, primarily between 8 am and 3 pm, with no nights, weekends, or holidays, thus offering a balanced work schedule. The Assistant Nutrition Manager directly supports the Nutrition Manager by coordinating kitchen operations and the staff involved in preparing and servicing nutritious meals for students. The primary objective of this role is to assist in ensuring that the school meal programs run smoothly, comply with state and federal regulations, and meet Child Nutrition Program standards.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing daily kitchen tasks such as producing accurate meal counts, ordering and preparing food, milk, produce, commodities, and supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe food preparation environment. The Assistant Nutrition Manager also oversees the operation of point of sale systems, handles student financial accounts with accuracy, and actively participates in serving meals during breakfast and lunch periods. The job is physically engaging, involving frequent lifting and moving of items up to 30 pounds, operating within a commercial kitchen setting, sometimes requiring work in a walk-in freezer, and handling food safely to avoid risks such as burns or cuts.

Compensation for this role starts at $22.13 per hour and includes valuable benefits such as a complimentary meal per shift and a uniform allowance. This role requires specific certification credentials, including ServSafe Certification and Certified Food Protection Manager Certificate to be obtained within 90 days of hire, as well as preferred certifications like MSNA (Minnesota School Nutrition Association) and experience in food handling. Roseville Area Schools prioritizes a safe, equitable work environment and encourages applicants who are dedicated to mirroring its core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion to apply. Final appointment is contingent upon passing a criminal background check and school board approval. This position is an excellent opportunity for those looking to contribute meaningfully to the health and well-being of students while enjoying a predictable schedule and supportive work environment.
