The Meat/Seafood Department Supervisor position at Yoke's Fresh Market plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and profitability of the meat and seafood department. This is a leadership role focused on guiding and empowering department associates while providing outstanding hospitality and professional service to guests. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining high standards of product quality, food safety, and guest engagement. They oversee core functions such as inventory management, merchandising, supervising associates, and upholding food safety standards by implementing Active Managerial Control procedures. This role requires hands-on involvement in cutting, trimming, boning, cleaning, and wrapping meat and seafood products while ensuring all items meet company specifications.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the supervisor provides in-service training to new personnel, fostering a team environment where associates understand exceptional guest service and the proper, safe use of department equipment. The position requires active participation in an accident reduction and safety program to maintain a safe working environment. Leadership responsibilities include managing personnel in the absence of the department manager, coordinating and evaluating associate activities, and enforcing company policies. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage associates and maintain a positive departmental atmosphere.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret business documents
  • Strong communication skills with guests, vendors, and associates
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts relevant to meat department management
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and procedures
  • Physical ability to perform lifting and manual tasks
  • State certification or permit for use of slicing and cutting equipment
  • Valid driver’s license or state identification
  • Commitment to workplace safety and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or a minimum of two years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills to manage profitable operations including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • Reasoning ability to carry out instructions and solve practical problems
  • Meeting state minimum requirements for working with meat and seafood equipment
  • Journey level expertise in cutting and wrapping
  • Valid state food handlers permit
  • Valid driver’s license or state ID card

Job Duties

  • Reporting for assigned shifts on time and ready to lead
  • Promoting sales through active discussions and product recommendations
