The role of Applebee's Assistant Manager is integral to the smooth and successful operation of one of Flynn Group's flagship restaurant locations. As an Assistant Manager, you will be deeply involved in all facets of day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring the delivery of excellent guest experiences and maintaining high employee morale. This position requires a motivated leader who can inspire their team, solve problems efficiently, manage stress effectively, and lead by example in a fast-paced hospitality environment. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and friendly service that aligns with company standards while driving the achievement of business objectives. Building a positive culture based on Flynn Applebee's core values is crucial, as is managing guest feedback promptly and professionally to maintain customer satisfaction. You will oversee inventory levels, ensure consistent food quality and presentation, manage employee schedules in line with sales demand, and uphold safety and sanitation standards.

Maintaining clean, organized, and safe restaurant operations will be a key focus, alongside promoting recruitment and training initiatives that support team development. You will actively participate in employee performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to help your staff grow professionally. Additionally, you will be involved in cost control within your department, compliance with relevant laws and company policies, and accurate reporting through daily paperwork.

Physically, the role demands the ability to work shifts including weekends, stand and move actively for extended periods, and handle lifting up to 50 pounds safely. Flexibility is important as you may be required to assist in various positions within the restaurant, such as cooking, bartending, or guest seating.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • willingness to work various shifts including weekends

  • finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment

Job Duties

  • Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
  • cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of core values and beliefs
  • ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
  • ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
  • maintains departmental inventory levels
  • ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards by performing line checks
  • effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
  • maintains effective safety and security programs
  • promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
  • performs routine maintenance and immediately reports to the General Manager/Area Director of needed repairs
  • promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates
  • promotes Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers
  • helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems
  • participates in the constant development of employees using One-on-One and performance documentation, and contributes to the completion of written evaluations
  • assesses the efficiency of employees, provides fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with employees on their areas of development
  • monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action
  • assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
  • responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
  • compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines
  • drives bi-weekly / weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion
  • responsible for preparing and submitting accurate daily paperwork
  • assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
  • provides a role model for managers and employees
  • develops self on all store related technology
  • must be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed when in a restaurant, including cooking on the line, expo, seating guests, bartending, etc.
  • uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
