The Applebee's Assistant Manager role is a vital position within Flynn Group’s Applebee’s operations. This role involves hands-on management of daily restaurant activities, ensuring high standards of customer service, employee engagement, and operational efficiency. As an Assistant Manager, you will lead by example, fostering a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel valued, and staff are motivated to perform at their best. Your leadership will be crucial in cultivating a positive work environment, resolving challenges swiftly, and maintaining a smooth workflow during all shifts.

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to engage with guests and team members, strong problem-solving abilities to handle the fast-paced nature of food service, and the resilience to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. Flynn Group provides competitive compensation for this role, with pay ranging from $15.38 to $26.44 per hour, equating to approximately $44,850 to $68,500 annually based on a 50-hour work week. Additionally, there may be opportunities for monthly bonuses depending on the location. Physical capability is essential, as the role requires the ability to work various shifts, including weekends, stand for extended periods, lift objects up to 50 pounds, and perform a variety of tasks including cooking, bartending, seating guests, and more to support the team. The Assistant Manager must also be adept at using store technology and maintaining accurate operational paperwork.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • Ability to work various shifts including weekends
  • Ability to stand and exert mobility for up to 10 hours
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to read and write for communication
  • Possess finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment
  • Must be willing and able to work in all positions including cooking, bartending, seating guests as needed

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications a plus
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and stress management abilities

  • Effective communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
  • Cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of our core values and beliefs
  • Ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
  • Ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
  • Maintains departmental inventory levels
  • Ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards by performing line checks
  • Effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
  • Maintains effective safety and security programs
  • Promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
  • Performs routine maintenance and immediately reports to the General Manager/Area Director of needed repairs
  • Promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates
  • Promotes Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers
  • Helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems
  • Participates in the constant development of employees using One-on-One and performance documentation, and contributes to the completion of written evaluations
  • Assesses the efficiency of employees, provides fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with employees on their areas of development
  • Monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action
  • Assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
  • Responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
  • Compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Drives bi-weekly / weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting accurate daily paperwork
  • Assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
  • Provides a role model for managers and employees
  • Develops self on all store related technology
  • Must be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed when in a restaurant
  • Uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
