As an Assistant Manager at Flynn Applebee's, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of one of the company's flagship restaurants. This position involves hands-on leadership to ensure every aspect of the restaurant runs smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for creating a positive environment that excites both guests and staff about their experience at Applebee's every day. This role demands strong leadership, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to handle stress, and resilience. Assistant Managers are expected to lead by example, working hard while providing an outstanding customer experience.
Your responsibilities will cover a broad spectrum, including ensuring timely and friendly service, upholding company standards for food preparation and presentation, maintaining inventory levels, scheduling employees effectively, enforcing safety and sanitation policies, and handling guest complaints promptly and professionally. Moreover, you will foster a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee's core values and work on developing your team by conducting training sessions, providing performance feedback, and participating in recruitment efforts.
This role also requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand and walk for long periods during shifts, work various hours including weekends, and safely lift weights up to 50 pounds. Certifications such as Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol are advantageous but not mandatory. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years of restaurant management experience
- Ability to work various shifts including weekends
- Capability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely
- Basic reading and writing proficiency
- Dexterity to use small tools and equipment
- Willingness to work in various restaurant positions as needed
Job Qualifications
- At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
- Serve Safe Food certification is a plus
- Serve Safe Alcohol certification is a plus
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties
- Ensure timely friendly service according to company guidelines
- Cultivate a culture based on Flynn Applebee's core values
- Respond immediately to and correct all verbal guest complaints
- Conduct required table visits to prioritize guest contact
- Maintain departmental inventory levels
- Perform line checks to ensure product preparation and presentation meet standards
- Schedule employees effectively to meet sales demands
- Maintain effective safety and security programs
- Promote and lead restaurant cleanliness and sanitation
- Perform routine maintenance and report needed repairs
- Promote quality recruitment and referrals of potential team members
- Facilitate training procedures for new managers
- Maintain a trained staff through orientation and individual training
- Develop employees through performance feedback and documentation
- Monitor employee performance and document disciplinary actions
- Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations
- Control costs in assigned departments
- Conduct food and liquor inventories as requested
- Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork
- Maintain sanitation standards to meet or exceed health department requirements
- Provide a role model for managers and staff
- Develop skills on store-related technology
- Willingness to work in all positions and assist team members as needed
- Use the Management Development Program for leadership growth
