The Assistant Restaurant Manager is responsible for managing restaurant operations either in conjunction with or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. This role demands a strong leader who can utilize discretion in daily management decisions to ensure efficient execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and uphold the Jack in the Box Brand Promise. Primary duties include providing both excellent internal and external service, fostering a positive and productive restaurant environment, and driving restaurant sales and profitability while ensuring strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This management position plays a key role in recruiting, training, and developing restaurant employees to build a highly motivated and skilled team. The Assistant Restaurant Manager also ensures compliance with food safety standards and legal labor regulations, maintains exemplary guest service and food quality, responds effectively to customer concerns, and collaborates with the Restaurant Manager to analyze and improve operational and financial performance. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal communication, strategic business acumen, and a genuine passion for the brand and its culture. Immersion in ethical leadership, effective conflict resolution, coaching, and employee development are essential to success in this position. Candidates must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, shifting environment while maintaining a focus on quality, consistency, and team morale.

Job Requirements

  • must be at least 18 years old
  • high school diploma ged or equivalent
  • minimum 1 year experience in customer service leadership or minimum 3 years assistant manager experience externally
  • 100 percent certification in workstations for internal candidates
  • completion of assistant manager training
  • servsafe certification
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • ability to perform basic math operations
  • valid driver's license and insurance
  • ability to lift 10-65 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk 85-95 percent of shift
  • ability to operate restaurant equipment and computers
  • willingness to use personal vehicle for business purposes
  • commitment to integrity and ethical conduct

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma ged or equivalent required
  • associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • minimum 1 year experience as shift leader or assistant manager internally
  • minimum 3 years assistant manager experience with some profit and loss responsibility externally
  • must be 100 percent certified in all workstations internally
  • must complete assistant manager training classes
  • must be servsafe certified
  • ability to speak read and write effectively in English
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • ability to perform basic math
  • proven analytical skills

Job Duties
