The role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at Jack in the Box is pivotal to managing restaurant operations effectively, either in the presence of or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. This position carries the responsibility of maintaining the seamless execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and upholding the Brand Promise. Primarily, the Assistant Restaurant Manager focuses on providing outstanding internal service by recruiting, training, and developing team members while creating a positive and respectful work environment. They also ensure that external service exceeds guest expectations by managing daily operational activities, addressing guest concerns promptly, and maintaining high standards for food quality, safety, cleanliness, and overall restaurant appearance.
In addition to operational and service responsibilities, the Assistant Restaurant Manager partners with the Restaurant Manager to analyze financial and operational performance data, including income and expenses, quality and service reports, and health inspections. They play an active role in developing actionable plans aimed at increasing sales and profitability, ensuring compliance with company policies, labor laws, and food safety regulations. This role demands strong leadership qualities such as integrity, ethical behavior, effective communication, and the ability to maintain composure under pressure. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year relevant management experience
- Completion of Assistant Manager training classes
- ServSafe certification
- Valid driver's license and insurance
- Ability to lift and carry 10-65 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk 85%-95% of shift
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to perform basic math
- Knowledge of labor laws and compliance
- Ability to operate restaurant equipment and personal vehicle
- Ability to work under pressure and manage conflict effectively
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Shift Leader or Assistant Manager (internal candidates)
- Minimum 3 years experience as an Assistant Manager with P&L responsibility (external candidates)
- 100% certification in all workstations
- Must complete Assistant Manager training
- ServSafe certification required
- Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills
- Valid driver's license and insurance
- Proficient with personal computers and software applications
- Demonstrated integrity and ethical behavior
Job Duties
- Recruit and select restaurant employees
- Train, develop, and evaluate team members
