The role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at Jack in the Box is a critical leadership position responsible for managing restaurant operations alongside or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. The Assistant Restaurant Manager uses discretion in daily management decisions, with accountability for delivering excellent internal and external services, as well as increasing restaurant sales and profitability. This position requires fostering a positive and productive workplace culture by recruiting, training, evaluating, and developing restaurant employees. The role also involves ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and all state and federal labor laws and regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Completed Assistant Manager training classes
  • ServSafe certified
  • Minimum 1 year experience as Shift Leader or Assistant Manager or 3 years as Assistant Manager externally
  • Must be 100% certified in all workstations
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills
  • Must possess valid driver's license and insurance
  • Ability to lift and carry 10-65 lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk 85%-95% of shift
  • Ability to operate restaurant equipment and computers
  • Ability to drive personal vehicle for business tasks
  • Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience as Shift Leader or Assistant Manager for internal candidates
  • Minimum 3 years experience as Assistant Manager for external candidates
  • Must be 100% certified in all workstations
  • ServSafe certification required
  • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Good organization and planning skills
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software
  • Valid driver's license and insurance

Job Duties

  • Recruit, select, train, develop, and evaluate restaurant employees
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure sufficient development and talent
  • Ensure training systems for employees on workstations are fully implemented
  • Create a restaurant environment that is friendly, fun, clean, and safe
  • Motivate and inspire employees to achieve high performance
  • Manage daily activities to achieve excellence in operational performance
  • Ensure guests receive exceptional experience by training employees and holding team accountable
  • Monitor adherence to systems, procedures, and food safety requirements
  • Respond to guest concerns and complaints timely and professionally
  • Analyze restaurant operational and financial performance and develop action plans
  • Partner with Restaurant Manager to increase sales and profitability
  • Monitor costs and adherence to budget and restaurant goals
  • Serve as a role model for excellent guest service
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
