Founded in 1951, the company has grown into a substantial presence in the fast-casual dining industry with hundreds of locations nationwide. Jack in the Box is recognized for its unique blend of classic burgers and bold flavors, consistently upholding a strong brand image grounded in quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. The company prides itself on fostering a positive internal culture and implementing cutting-edge service models such as the Service Profit Chain, which links employee satisfaction directly to customer satisfaction and business profitability. This culture is deeply embedded in all levels of restaurant operations up to the management team, which underscores the value placed on leadership, teamwork, and continuous growth.
The Assistant Restaurant Manager at Jack in the Box plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of restaurant operations alongside or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. This role is responsible for managing the restaurant by making daily operational decisions that maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and food quality while building sales and optimizing profit margins. The Assistant Restaurant Manager actively implements the company’s Service Profit Chain model and Brand Promise to foster an environment that supports both excellent internal and external service. Internally, this position involves recruiting, selecting, developing, and evaluating team members, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and ensuring proper training on operational systems. Externally, the focus is on ensuring guests experience consistently high-quality service and food, addressing guest requests professionally and promptly, and sustaining the restaurant’s positive brand image.
The role demands a hands-on leader who is passionate about coaching and developing employees, creating a fun, friendly, and safe working environment while enforcing all company and regulatory policies and procedures. They use performance data and business analysis tools to monitor restaurant financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement actionable plans to increase profitability and meet budget goals. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to effectively manage priorities, changes, and conflicts within a fast-paced environment are crucial for success.
This full-time position requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with associate or bachelor degrees preferred. Candidates must have prior management experience in customer service environments, possess ServSafe certification, and complete company-specific training programs. The job also demands physical capability to stand and walk through service shifts, lift objects, and use personal vehicles when needed for restaurant business activities. Jack in the Box is committed to equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodation provisions for qualified individuals with disabilities. The Assistant Restaurant Manager is a pivotal role that combines operational oversight with employee engagement and guest satisfaction, ensuring that every visit to Jack in the Box is a memorable experience worthy of the brand’s reputation.
