This full-time, entry-level management position is based at the Marriott hotel located at 510 Water St, Tampa, Florida. It is a management role primarily responsible for supporting day-to-day activities within the Rooms Operations division. Areas under its purview include Housekeeping, Recreation, Laundry, Staff, Activities for Youth and Seniors (AYS), and Concierge/Guest Services. The position plays an integral role in ensuring that guest arrival and departure procedures are carried out smoothly while maintaining rigorous cleanliness and operational standards throughout the property.
The candidate will assist in managing front desk shifts, housekeeping operations, and ensure the completion of duty checklists. They will review critical reports relating to room operations, understand the functions of various sub-departments, and handle equipment and supply needs. A crucial part of the role includes understanding night audit procedures, loss prevention policies, and the scheduling of employees to meet business demands effectively.
Additionally, the role contributes to budget management by supervising selling procedures to maximize room revenue, verifying room rates, and utilizing budgets and payroll reports to monitor expenses and departmental performance. The ideal candidate will also support guest satisfaction by addressing guest feedback, assisting in accident investigations, and enabling a successful repeat guest recognition program. This role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to handle employee and guest concerns, and a proactive approach to creating a positive and welcoming environment.
The pay range for this position is $25.77 to $28.37 per hour, and it is bonus eligible. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
- OR 2-year degree in related field
- Ability to manage front desk and housekeeping shifts
- Knowledge of room operations reports
- Understanding of night audit procedures
- Compliance with loss prevention policies
- Ability to communicate with employees and guests
- Scheduling proficiency
- Basic budgeting knowledge
- Ability to investigate accidents
- Guest relation skills

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 3 years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
- OR 2-year degree from accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major with 1 year experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
- Experience managing shift operations
- Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle guest relations and complaints effectively
- Basic understanding of budgeting and revenue management in hotel operations
- Familiarity with loss prevention policies
- Ability to operate department equipment and manage supplies
- Proficiency in scheduling and time tracking
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities
Job Duties
- Open and close front desk shifts and housekeeping ensuring completion of assigned shift checklist and other duties
- Run and review critical information contained in room operations reports
- Understand functions of Recreation, Laundry, Housekeeping, Bell Staff, AYS, Front Desk and Concierge/Guest Services operations
- Operate all department equipment as necessary and report malfunctions
- Ensure employees have the proper supplies and uniforms
- Understand night audit procedures and utilize reports as necessary
- Comply with loss prevention policies and procedures
- Communicate performance expectations to employees
- Handle employee questions and concerns
- Schedule employees to business demands and track time and attendance
- Supervise same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and occupancy
- Verify accuracy of room rates to maximize revenue opportunities
- Use budgets, operating statements and payroll reports to assist in room operations management
- Participate in managing departmental controllable expenses
- Understand impact of Room Operations on overall property financial goals
- Assist in employee and guest accident investigations
- Use guest information tracking system for repeat guest recognition
