Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • 3 years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
  • or 2-year degree from an accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related major
  • 1 year experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
  • ability to operate department equipment
  • understanding of night audit procedures
  • knowledge of loss prevention policies
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to manage employee schedules and concerns
  • capability to handle guest complaints and feedback
  • basic budgeting knowledge

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED with 3 years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
  • OR 2-year degree in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related major with 1 year experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area
  • knowledge of room operations procedures and equipment
  • understanding of night audit procedures
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to manage and schedule employees effectively
  • familiarity with loss prevention policies
  • ability to handle guest relations and resolve complaints
  • basic understanding of budgeting and financial goals

Job Duties

  • opens and closes front desk shifts/housekeeping and ensures completion of assigned shift checklist and other duties
  • runs and reviews critical information contained in room operations reports
  • understands the functions of recreation, laundry, housekeeping, bell staff, AYS, front desk, and concierge/guest services operations
  • operates all department equipment as necessary and reports malfunctions
  • ensures employees have the proper supplies and uniforms
  • understands night audit procedures and utilizes reports as necessary
  • complies with loss prevention policies and procedures
  • communicates performance expectations to employees in accordance with job descriptions
  • handles employee questions and concerns
  • effectively schedules employees to business demands and tracks time and attendance
  • supervises same day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and property occupancy
  • verifies accuracy of room rates
  • uses budgets, operating statements and payroll progress reports to assist in managing room operations
  • participates in managing departmental controllable expenses
  • understands the impact of room operations on overall property financial goals
  • assists in investigating employee and guest accidents
  • uses guest information tracking system to support repeat guest recognition
  • sets a positive example for guest relations
  • interacts with guests to obtain feedback and handles guest problems and complaints
  • assists in reviewing comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
