The role of an Entry Level Manager in Rooms Operations at the Detroit Marriott centers on overseeing the day-to-day functions of critical departments including Housekeeping, Recreation, Laundry, Staff coordination, and Concierge/Guest Services. This full-time management position is vital to maintaining the hotel’s cleanliness, operational efficiency, and high guest satisfaction. The salary range for this position is $25.77 to $29.33 per hour, with eligibility for bonuses, reflecting the importance of operational excellence and performance to the hotel's success.
This position involves direct support in managing shift operations such as opening and closing Front Desk and Housekeeping shifts, ensuring completion of checklists, and reviewing room operations reports. The candidate will develop a strong understanding of all room-related department functions and equipment, oversee employee supplies and uniforms, and implement night audit procedures. A key focus is on loss prevention and adhering to property and brand standards. The manager will also be responsible for clear communication of performance expectations, addressing employee questions, and scheduling staff effectively according to business demands.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least three years experience in a related professional area or two-year degree with one year experience
- Ability to work full time
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of loss prevention policies
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and guests
- Capability to schedule and manage staff time and attendance
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Commitment to Marriott’s values and standards
- Basic computer skills including report comprehension
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping or related professional area
- Two-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major
- One year experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping or related professional area
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to operate departmental equipment
- Understanding of budget and payroll management
- Knowledge of guest service principles
- Ability to handle guest complaints professionally
Job Duties
- Open and close Front Desk and Housekeeping shifts ensuring completion of shift checklists
- Run and review critical information in room operations reports
- Understand functions of Recreation, Laundry, Housekeeping, Bell Staff, AYS, Front Desk and Concierge/Guest Services
- Operate department equipment and report malfunctions
- Ensure employees have proper supplies and uniforms
- Comprehend and utilize night audit procedures
- Communicate performance expectations to employees
- Schedule employees effectively according to business demands
- Supervise same-day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and occupancy
- Verify accuracy of room rates
- Use budgets and payroll reports to assist in managing Room Operations
- Participate in controlling departmental expenses
- Assist in investigation of employee and guest accidents
