Job Description

Panda Express, founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With close to 2,800 locations globally, Panda Express is renowned for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. The company is deeply committed to its family of associates, emphasizing both professional and personal development through comprehensive training, mentorship, and community support. Panda Express prides itself on upholding family values and fostering an environment where employees are inspired to better their lives, both at work and within the communities they serve. Their dedication to inclusivity and equal opportunity ensures that every individual is valued and supported in their career journey.

The Assistant Manager role at Panda Express is an exciting opportunity for experienced leaders who want to make a significant impact within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This position involves assisting in the operation of a single store by managing and directing associates to achieve financial goals and ensuring a superior guest experience. The Assistant Manager plays a critical role in the success of their store by handling responsibilities such as hiring staff, directing daily operations, and maintaining operational standards. To set candidates up for success, Panda Express offers a paid store management leadership training program that spans three or more weeks, equipping new leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive.

This position requires flexibility, as the role often involves working varied shifts, including openings, closings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Additionally, there is an expectation that the Assistant Manager may need to relocate within a 50-mile radius of their home to support different store locations. The work environment is dynamic and demands strong communication skills, the ability to manage conflicts effectively, and adaptability to shifting priorities. Panda Express also emphasizes food safety, requiring Serve Safe certification for this role.

In return for the dedication and hard work of its assistant managers, Panda Express offers a generous compensation package with bonus opportunities, comprehensive medical benefits including vision and dental, disability and income protection insurance, and a 401K plan with company matching. Associates enjoy free meals on shift, paid time off, paid holidays, and exclusive discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, along with numerous opportunities for career growth and leadership development through ongoing training and educational assistance. Panda Express demonstrates a strong commitment to creating a supportive workplace where employees can grow their careers in management and beyond while making a positive difference in the communities they serve.
