Job Description

Panda Express, established in 1983 in Glendale, California, has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. Known for its dedication to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, Panda Express embodies a culture that values family, teamwork, and professional growth. The company's mission is not just about serving delicious food but also about inspiring its associates to enhance their lives both personally and professionally. As part of the Panda Restaurant Group, Inc., the company fosters an inclusive environment that emphasizes equal opportunity employment, ensuring a workplace where diversity is celebrated, and every individual is treated with respect and fairness. Panda Express supports its employees by providing comprehensive benefits, ongoing leadership development, and strong mentorship programs, all designed to prepare employees for success and career advancement within the organization.

The Assistant Manager role at Panda Express is a pivotal position within the store management team responsible for assisting with the overall operations of a single restaurant location. This leadership role involves managing, guiding, and directing associates to meet financial objectives and provide memorable guest experiences. As an Assistant Manager, you will be expected to take charge of various operational aspects including hiring, team management, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. To support your success in this role, Panda Express provides a paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks, combining hands-on experience with mentorship from seasoned leaders. The company values flexibility, adaptability, and effective communication skills in this role as the work environment is fast-paced and dynamic.

Candidates for this position should expect to work flexible schedules, including weekends, and be willing to work in stores within a 50-mile radius. The physical demands require the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a hot, sometimes noisy kitchen environment. Prospective assistant managers will be prepared to handle kitchen equipment safely, maintain accuracy under pressure, and navigate a bustling workspace. Panda Express offers a competitive compensation package with bonus opportunities and a rich array of benefits for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and ongoing educational assistance. The company’s commitment to associate well-being and community engagement makes working at Panda Express not only a job but a rewarding career path with opportunities for personal growth and advancement.
