The Assistant Manager of Dining Services plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the dietary department and dining room at Carolina Inn. This full-time position demands strong leadership skills and a passion for service excellence, as holidays are mandatory and workdays may vary. The Assistant Manager works closely with the Director of Life Enrichment and the Assistant Director of Culinary Services to maintain high food quality and service standards that meet or exceed resident expectations. Daily responsibilities include overseeing front-of-house staff, monitoring food quality through regular meal sampling, and maintaining sanitation and safety regulations. Additionally, the role involves ensuring resident satisfaction by rounding dining rooms, managing inventory and stocking per par lists, and upholding strict compliance with dietary and meal completion protocols.

Job Requirements
- Associate degree or two to three years related experience and/or training
- or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Pre-employment background check and drug testing is required
- Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear regularly
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and sometimes more than 50 pounds
- Must utilize proper lifting and body mechanics to prevent personal injury
Job Qualifications
- Good knowledge of the policies and procedures of an assisted living facility
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently
- Ability to motivate people and be sensitive to their needs
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and staff
- Understanding and awareness of the needs of the aging population

Job Duties
- Manage the front of house (FOH) staff members to ensure daily operations go smoothly
- Maintain 90% resident satisfaction survey score and round dining rooms to ensure resident satisfaction
- Ensure that each meal is sampled for quality assurance
- Work with FOH team to ensure food quality, presentation, and timeliness of meals
- Hold FOH team accountable for stocking dining rooms per par list
- Responsible for all daily sanitation standards
- Hold team accountable for compliance to diet and meal completion checklist
- Maintain standards for snack cart
- Ensure par levels of all tableware/utensils to eliminate the use of disposables
- Hold team accountable for always available all-day menu
- Ensure that all dining areas, food preparation, and service areas are clean, neat, and organized
- Always adhere to health department rules and regulations
- Establish a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with safety and loss prevention programs, along with standards and procedures for the handling and storage of hazardous materials and/or waste and complies with all government regulations
- Ensure the quality of operations, including dishware, linens, and food and beverage items
- Complying with all client, company, and state food safety requirements
- Perform daily operational duties
- Perform other duties as required
