Gilbert Unified School District is a leading educational organization committed to providing quality education and support services to a diverse student population. The district is dedicated to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth. Known for its strong community involvement and progressive educational programs, Gilbert Unified School District continually strives to enhance the learning experience through innovative teaching practices and comprehensive support services.
This opportunity is for the position of Assistant Manager - Nutrition Services at the high school level, specifically located at Gilbert High School and Highland High School. This role is classified under Support Staff (Non-Classroom) and offers an hourly rate starting at $17.63, based on experience. It is a nine-month position requiring 7.5 hours of work per day, aligned with the school calendar.
The Assistant Manager - Nutrition Services High School is a vital role within the district's Nutrition Services department. The primary responsibility is to assist and support the Nutrition Service Manager in managing daily operational and financial aspects of the school food service program while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality and safety of food service operations, adhering to USDA School Breakfast Program (SBP) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) meal patterns, and meeting all mandated health requirements.
The role includes assisting cafeteria workers with food preparation and meal service, confirming that quantities and quality of food items meet the required standards. In addition, the Assistant Manager supports the management in training food service workers and supervising food service personnel under the guidance of the Food Service Manager. The position also involves operational duties such as monitoring food service equipment, handling food inventories, production, and receiving, and ensuring efficient site operations.
Operational responsibilities extend to financial duties including money handling procedures, daily count and reconciliation of cash, operating Point of Sale (POS) systems, generating daily reports, and placing monthly food orders. The Assistant Manager will assume full responsibility for the food service operations in the absence of the Manager, demonstrating leadership and accountability.
This position also requires possession of a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card before processing employment and maintaining a current Maricopa County Food Handler's Certificate during employment. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
The work environment includes some physical effort such as occasional lifting and guiding of lightweight materials and may involve exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. The role demands excellent human relations skills, routine problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and the capability to work efficiently within a team. Gilbert Unified School District is an equal opportunity employer committed to nondiscrimination and inclusivity across all aspects of employment and service delivery.
