As the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, Panda Express has grown to nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, continuing to expand its presence and influence in the quick-service restaurant industry. The company prides itself on its commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests by combining quality food with excellent customer service and a welcoming atmosphere. Panda Express is deeply committed to the professional and personal growth of its employees, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment that values family-oriented principles and encourages team members to develop their careers within the organization.
The role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express presents an exciting opportunity for those looking to build a rewarding career in restaurant management. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and assisting the overall operation of a single Panda Express store. Your responsibilities will include managing and directing store associates to meet financial goals and ensuring outstanding guest experiences that align with Panda Express's high standards. This leadership position involves key functions such as hiring, training, motivating staff, and maintaining operational excellence through effective management of store activities.
Panda Express equips its Assistant Managers with comprehensive training to set them up for success. The position includes a paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks, designed to prepare you intensively for the demands and expectations of the role. As a manager within Panda’s stores, you will be encouraged to lead by example, foster teamwork, and continuously seek ways to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
This position requires flexibility and adaptability as you will be expected to work a varied schedule featuring opening and closing shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings to accommodate business needs. Additionally, a minimum of a high school diploma is required, along with the ability to relocate within a 50-mile radius of your home to meet store staffing requirements. Food safety is a priority at Panda Express, and Assistant Managers must be Serve Safe certified, ensuring compliance with all hygiene and food handling regulations. The role also demands standing for long periods, the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and skillful use of kitchen tools such as Chinese cook knives under fast-paced conditions.
Panda Express is committed to equal opportunity employment and inclusivity. It adheres strictly to all laws prohibiting discrimination of any kind and supports reasonable workplace accommodations for candidates with disabilities to ensure equitable hiring processes and workplace participation. Working at Panda Express means joining a vibrant community driven by a shared passion for growth, excellence, and family values. This role holds great potential for individuals looking to thrive in a strong, supportive environment while advancing their leadership capabilities in the exciting and dynamic restaurant sector.
