Job Description
Panda Express is a renowned leader in the fast-casual dining industry, widely recognized for its commitment to delivering exceptional Asian cuisine experiences to customers across the globe. Founded in Glendale, California in 1983, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, the company takes pride in its dedication to family values, fostering a community where associates are inspired to grow both professionally and personally. The organization emphasizes a culture of mentorship, support, and leadership development, aiming to create a positive and rewarding workplace environment for all its employees. Panda Express is steadfastly committed to the professional advancement of its store management team, offering paid Store Management Leadership Training and continuous support through a caring Panda community.
The role of an Assistant Manager at Panda Express is central to the success of each individual store. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the overall operation of a single Panda Express store. You will play a key role in managing and directing a team of associates, ensuring that all team members are working harmoniously towards achieving financial goals and delivering an outstanding guest experience. Your leadership will influence the daily operations, from hiring new team members to fostering an energetic and efficient work environment. The job demands a hands-on approach to management, enabling you to cultivate an upbeat and customer-focused store atmosphere. Recognizing that comprehensive training is vital to your success, Panda Express provides a store leadership training program lasting three or more weeks to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed for effective store management.
The position also requires flexibility and adaptability, as scheduling often includes opening and closing shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays according to business needs. As a role that requires a strong commitment to both operational excellence and team leadership, the Assistant Manager is expected to be Serve Safe certified to maintain food safety standards. Candidates must be willing to relocate within a 50-mile radius of their current home location if needed, demonstrating a readiness to meet the company’s dynamic operational demands. Moreover, the job environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate efficiently in confined spaces with high noise and heat levels. Effective communication skills, conflict management abilities, and adaptability to changing priorities are crucial attributes for success in this role.
Panda Express is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, fostering diversity and inclusivity across all levels of its workforce. The company complies with all federal, state, and local laws concerning workplace accommodations and is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations during the application and employment process. This commitment ensures that all individuals, regardless of their background or personal characteristics, have equal access to career opportunities within the Panda family. Joining Panda Express means becoming part of a vibrant organization where your contributions are valued, and your potential is nurtured. Whether impacting the team or the communities served, working with Panda Express is a chance to be part of something meaningful and lasting.
