Job Description
Panda Express, established in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, Panda Express has grown remarkably over the decades, becoming a beloved destination for customers seeking delicious and high-quality Asian cuisine. The company is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees, often referred to as the Panda family, receive professional development, mentorship, and opportunities to succeed. At Panda Express, the mission goes beyond serving food – it’s about inspiring team members to better their lives and positively impact the communities they serve. The organization embraces strong family values and strives to maintain a culture of respect, equity, and support for associates from all backgrounds and experiences. Panda Express is proud to uphold federal, state, and local laws related to workplace accommodations and equal opportunity employment. This dedication ensures every associate is welcomed and valued regardless of gender, race, disability, age, or other protected characteristics.
In the role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express, you will be entrusted with the critical responsibility of supporting the operation of a single restaurant location. Your primary focus will be to lead, mentor, and manage associates efficiently to achieve financial targets while delivering exceptional guest experiences that uphold the brand’s high standards. To prepare you for success, Panda Express offers comprehensive paid Store Management Leadership Training lasting three or more weeks, where you gain tactical and practical knowledge necessary to excel in the role. As Assistant Manager, you’ll hire, develop, and direct team members, ensuring operational excellence and fostering a positive work environment. The role demands adaptability and flexibility, including the willingness to relocate within a 50-mile radius if necessary and the ability to work flexible schedules that may include opening and closing shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet dynamic business needs.
This position requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and can maintain composure when managing conflicts or difficult situations. You will be actively involved in daily operations, including food preparation following strict safety protocols, managing quality and speed of service, and ensuring staff adherence to company policies and standards. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in environments that can be hot, noisy, and space-restricted. Importantly, Panda Express values your health and safety and provides the support necessary to perform your duties effectively. As part of the Panda family, your contributions directly impact the store's success and the overall positive guest experience that sets Panda Express apart in the competitive quick-service restaurant industry. By joining as an Assistant Manager, you embark on a rewarding career path with a respected leader committed to your growth, development, and long-term success.
