Job Description
Panda Express is a renowned leader in the fast-casual dining industry, specializing in American Chinese cuisine. Founded in Glendale, California in 1983, it has grown to be the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. With nearly 2,800 locations globally, Panda Express is committed to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering an environment that values family and community. The company is deeply invested in the professional and personal growth of its associates, offering a supportive culture that emphasizes mentorship and career development. Panda Express operates with a mission to inspire its people to better their lives and to make meaningful impacts on the communities where it operates.
This role is for an Assistant Manager position within Panda Express, a critical leadership role responsible for the successful operation of a single store. The assistant manager plays a pivotal role in hiring, managing, and directing associates to achieve both financial goals and exceptional guest experiences. The position includes overseeing daily store operations, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and maintaining a dynamic and motivated team. To prepare candidates for success, Panda Express provides comprehensive store leadership training lasting three or more weeks, combined with ongoing mentorship and the support of a community that cares deeply about your professional growth.
The assistant manager is expected to be flexible in scheduling, including the availability to work weekends, and must be willing to work within a 50-mile radius of the store location. The environment is fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding, requiring team members to stand for long periods, manage hot food preparation, and lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be Serve Safe certified to uphold food safety and sanitation standards. Effective communication, adaptability in dynamic situations, and strong conflict resolution skills are essential for success in this role.
At Panda Express, diversity and inclusion are integral parts of their values, being an equal opportunity employer that prohibits discrimination on any legally protected basis. The company complies with federal, state, and local laws to provide workplace accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and is committed to creating an accessible hiring process. Working with Panda Express means joining a leader that not only advancements your career but also supports your development with paid leadership training, a culture of support, and opportunities for continued growth in a respected and well-established organization.
