Job Description

Panda Express is a renowned leader in the fast-casual Asian dining industry, widely recognized as the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown exponentially to operate nearly 2,800 locations globally. The company is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences, fueled by a culture that embraces family values and fosters a supportive community environment for its associates. Panda Express focuses heavily on the professional and personal growth of its team members, offering robust leadership development programs, continual mentorship, and a workplace culture rooted in respect, diversity, and equal opportunity.

As a part of Panda Express, the role of Assistant Manager is key to maintaining operational excellence and driving the success of individual store locations. This position involves a combination of leadership, operational management, and team development responsibilities. Assistant Managers are entrusted with assisting in the daily operation of the store, which includes staffing, training, and managing associates to ensure both financial targets and quality standards are met. This role requires a proactive, hands-on approach to leadership where you will be directly involved with hiring new team members, scheduling shifts, and inspiring a staff that is committed to delivering outstanding service.

The Assistant Manager plays a critical role in creating an environment where exceptional guest service is a priority, and where team members feel supported and motivated to perform at their best. To prepare candidates for success in this role, Panda Express provides a comprehensive store management leadership training program lasting three or more weeks. During this training, new Assistant Managers receive in-depth knowledge of operational protocols, management techniques, and customer service excellence, ensuring they have the tools needed to drive store profitability and foster a positive store culture.

This position requires flexibility, as availability to work varied hours including opening and closing shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays is essential, reflecting the dynamic nature of the foodservice industry. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining food safety standards, being Serve Safe certified, and be willing to relocate within a 50-mile radius if necessary. The role also demands physical stamina and adaptability due to the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of a Panda Express kitchen. Employees must be prepared to stand for long periods, handle hot and cold food preparation, and work efficiently under a variety of demanding conditions.

Panda Express is not only committed to the growth of its associates but also upholds a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer that prohibits discrimination based on a myriad of protected characteristics under federal, state, and local laws. It also honors the Americans with Disabilities Act by ensuring that applicants and employees receive reasonable accommodations to participate fully in their roles and workplace activities.

Joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager means becoming part of a supportive and driven team where your leadership and management skills can have a tangible impact on the success of a popular and beloved brand. It is an opportunity to develop your career, improve your leadership capabilities, and contribute to an organization that values innovation, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence in service.
