Job Description
Panda Express, established in 1983 in Glendale, California, has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. Known for its commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, Panda Express operates nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The company prides itself on fostering a family-oriented culture that prioritizes the professional and personal development of its associates. Panda Express offers a supportive and inclusive work environment that embraces diverse backgrounds and encourages employees to thrive both inside and outside the workplace. The organization is deeply committed to equal employment opportunities and adheres strictly to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, ensuring reasonable accommodations for applicants and associates. Panda Express’s leadership philosophy ensures that every team member is valued and given opportunities for career advancement through structured training programs and mentorship.
The Assistant Manager position at Panda Express plays a critical role in the successful operation of a store within the Panda family. This leadership role involves managing day-to-day store operations, which includes hiring, training, and supervising associates while driving the store toward achieving its financial objectives. The Assistant Manager ensures that guests receive exceptional service, contributing to the company's mission of providing outstanding Asian dining experiences. The role requires a proactive and hands-on approach to managing the team and operational functions effectively. To prepare new Assistant Managers for success, Panda Express provides an intensive store leadership training program lasting three or more weeks, combining practical knowledge with mentorship and community support. This position requires flexibility, as Managers may need to work at different stores within a 50-mile radius and accommodate variable scheduling that includes weekends. Candidates must meet food safety standards and hold a Serve Safe certification to ensure compliance with health guidelines. Additionally, the work environment demands physical endurance as the role involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a fast-paced kitchen setting with high noise levels and hot conditions. Assistant Managers must be adaptable leaders, capable of managing conflicts and dynamic priorities with effective communication skills. Joining Panda Express means becoming part of a supportive culture that values family, community, and career growth.
