Job Description
Panda Express is a renowned leader in the fast-casual dining industry, known for serving delicious American Chinese cuisine across thousands of locations globally. Founded in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The company is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and engaging environment for its associates, dedicated to both their personal and professional development. This dedication is reflected in their inclusive culture, family values, and ongoing investment in training and mentorship programs. As an industry leader, Panda Express offers an exceptional workplace experience that encourages growth, teamwork, and success within the vibrant and fast-paced restaurant sector.
Joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager provides a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for experienced leaders eager to contribute to a thriving store operation. The Assistant Manager role entails the responsibility of supporting the day-to-day management of a single Panda Express store, ensuring operational excellence and outstanding guest experiences. This role involves leading and motivating a team of associates, overseeing hiring and staffing functions, driving financial performance, and maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service. Duties extend to managing labor costs and inventory while fostering a positive work atmosphere that aligns with the company’s family-oriented culture. In preparation for this pivotal role, Panda Express provides an intensive 3-week or longer store leadership training program designed to equip you with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed. This training includes comprehensive instruction on store operations, leadership tactics, guest relations, and health and safety protocols.
Applicants are expected to be flexible regarding work locations within a 50-mile radius and able to adapt to various schedules, including weekends. The position requires a Serve Safe certification, reflecting the importance Panda Express places on food safety compliance. The work environment involves handling kitchen equipment, preparing hot and cold foods, and managing a fast-paced, often physically demanding setting. There is an emphasis on strong communication skills, the ability to handle conflict effectively, and adaptability to a dynamic and changing workplace.
Panda Express values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer, emphasizing respect and inclusion for all team members regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics. The company complies fully with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and accommodates applicants and employees with disabilities to ensure a fair and accessible hiring process. When you join Panda Express, you become part of a supportive community dedicated to making a meaningful impact both within the company and in the broader community.
