Job Description

Panda Express, established in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, now operating nearly 2,800 locations globally. Renowned for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, Panda Express continues to expand while upholding strong family values that are embedded in its corporate culture. As an industry leader committed to the professional and personal growth of its associates, Panda Express offers a supportive and dynamic work environment where employees can thrive and build fulfilling careers. The company is 100% dedicated to nurturing talent through paid Store Management Leadership Training, mentorship, and ongoing support from a close-knit Panda community that genuinely cares about the success of each team member. This approach has built a powerful workplace culture based on teamwork, respect, and continuous learning.

The role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express is pivotal to the successful operation of one store location. This position entails assisting in managing and directing store associates to achieve financial and operational goals, ensuring the delivery of outstanding customer experiences, and fostering a positive work environment. Assistant Managers are responsible for hiring, training, and motivating team members to reach their highest potential while maintaining compliance with food safety standards, including Serve Safe certification. To prepare candidates for success, Panda Express provides a comprehensive store leadership training program lasting three or more weeks, enabling new managers to develop leadership skills and operational expertise. Flexibility is essential in this role, as the Assistant Manager must be willing to work within a 50-mile radius of the store, including weekends and varying shifts, to meet business demands.

This role demands strong communication skills, adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and the ability to handle conflicts and difficult situations with professionalism. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, operating kitchen equipment such as the traditional Chinese cook knife, and tolerating working conditions that can be hot and noisy. Panda Express promotes an inclusive and equal-opportunity workplace that respects diversity and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws related to workplace accommodations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If accommodations are required throughout the hiring or employment process, Panda Express encourages applicants to reach out for assistance.

Joining Panda Express as an Assistant Manager offers the opportunity to be part of a widely recognized and respected brand with a supportive community focused on helping team members succeed both personally and professionally. This role is ideal for leaders who are passionate about foodservice, customer satisfaction, and employee development, and who are ready to contribute to the growth and success of a thriving restaurant business.
