The Assistant Manager for Special Events is a staff position located in College Station, Texas, with a monthly salary beginning at $6,616.67, equivalent to approximately $79,400 annually. This role assists the Manager for Special Events by providing supervision and oversight of employees within the Special Events unit and serves as the acting manager in that manager's absence. This position requires collaboration with another Assistant Manager to address hotel coordination, event parking, RV parking, conference parking, and traffic management needs during special events on campus. The Assistant Manager also plays a key part in planning and executing parking strategies for guests and conference attendees at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference center, ensuring adequate staffing and smooth operations.

Responsibilities include monitoring the parking management system to review vehicle counts and equipment alerts, responding promptly to ensure proper staffing and support are available. This role is vital in handling customer inquiries and complaints, delivering clear communication about parking and traffic policies to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. The Assistant Manager also oversees financial responsibilities such as cash and credit card handling, deposits, and reconciliation for the unit. In addition, the position demands active participation in university committees, working groups, and other meetings to represent the Transportation Services department effectively.

Physical demands include the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and the need to travel across the campus for meetings and event supervision. The role requires a valid Class C driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire and involves driving a state vehicle. Job Duties

  • Assist the Manager for Special Events in supervising employees within the Special Events unit
  • Serve as acting manager in the Manager's absence
  • Collaborate on hotel coordination, event, RV, and conference parking and traffic management
  • Develop and implement parking plans for the Texas A&M Hotel and campus special events
  • Monitor parking management systems for counts and alerts and respond appropriately
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and provide education on parking policies
  • Oversee cash and credit card handling, deposits, and reconciliation for the unit
  • Represent the department on committees and working groups
  • Drive a state vehicle to various campus locations for meetings and events
  • Provide on-site supervision during special events as necessary
  • Plan, schedule, train, and evaluate Special Events staff
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security regulations
