The role of Prepared Foods Assistant Team Leader – Front of House (FOH) at Plum Market is a dynamic position that supports the daily operations of the Prepared Foods Department. This department includes key food stations such as the pizza counter, carving station, showcase, food bars, and grab-and-go sections. The Assistant Team Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring these stations are fresh, fully stocked, and impeccably clean. Beyond the operational responsibilities, this position is one of leadership and customer engagement, where delivering exceptional customer service and managing FOH team performance are critical. The Assistant Team Leader collaborates closely with Back of House (BOH) leadership to promote a cohesive and high-performing working environment.

The Prepared Foods Assistant Team Leader position demands physical endurance as the role requires standing and walking for extended periods, along with the ability to lift and move heavy objects. The successful candidate will hold a strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, labeling, and product rotation practices, with preferred certification such as ServSafe Manager. Job Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs unassisted
  • Employment contingent upon successful background check

Job Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in foodservice or retail, with a focus on customer service and team development
  • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, labeling, and product rotation practices
  • Catering experience and comfort in leading both in-house and external food service execution
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • ServSafe Manager Certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Partner with the Team Leader to deliver a seamless FOH experience and cohesive department leadership
  • Provide outstanding customer service and model best-in-class service standards for the team
  • Oversee the daily operation of FOH revenue centers, ensuring full, fresh, and visually appealing displays
  • Lead catering production and service, building strong relationships with catering guests
  • Interview, hire, train, and develop team members, providing clear expectations and consistent feedback
  • Support scheduling and labor management in alignment with budget and department needs
  • Address guest and team member concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Collaborate with Store Leadership on performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary processes
  • Maintain all food safety, sanitation, and operational procedures in accordance with Plum Market policies
