The Assistant Manager of Environmental Services at NorthBay Health plays a pivotal role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and orderliness of its healthcare facilities. Reporting directly to the Manager of Environmental Services, this role oversees environmental services operations, including staff supervision, budgeting, equipment, and resources. The position is instrumental in ensuring that NorthBay’s healthcare environments meet and exceed rigorous standards set by Infection Control and Value Analysis committees, Joint Commission Environment of Care requirements, and regulatory agencies such as OSHA. The Assistant Manager coordinates personnel activities including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and conducting disciplinary actions for the Environmental Services staff. This role also manages inventory control, ensuring adequate supplies and proper equipment storage, and collaborates with other departments to promptly resolve service concerns and maintain exceptional customer service standards.

Additional responsibilities include conducting regular facility inspections to uphold cleanliness and infection prevention compliance, overseeing special projects such as floor care and waste management, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives through quality assurance indicator development and monitoring. The Assistant Manager is also expected to serve as the acting manager in the absence of the Environmental Services Manager, handling key operational and staffing decisions. To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a strong understanding of hospital infection control practices, environmental services policies, and related regulations including Cal-OSHA, Title 22, and hazardous material guidelines. Proficiency in MS Office and relevant EVS software systems, alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills, are essential. This is an exempt position requiring the ability to perform physical tasks such as operating large cleaning equipment and lifting up to 50 lbs. The role demands strong organizational skills, prioritization, independence, and effective teamwork.
