Job Description
IHOP, a beloved full-service restaurant known globally for its warm hospitality and delicious breakfast offerings, is inviting applications for the role of Assistant Manager. Founded to provide a welcoming dining experience grounded in quality food and friendly service, IHOP has become a household name synonymous with fun, family-friendly environments and memorable mealtime moments. With locations across various states, IHOP offers an exciting place for individuals passionate about food service and guest satisfaction to grow their careers.
As an Assistant Manager at IHOP, you play a crucial leadership role within the restaurant, acting as the essential right-hand partner to the General Manager. This position is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about leadership and thrive in a fast-paced, full-service environment. Your daily responsibilities will include driving shift performance, fostering team development, and upholding operational excellence to ensure every guest experience meets IHOP’s brand standards. The Assistant Manager is tasked with overseeing all aspects of shift operations including hospitality, food quality, cleanliness, and service standards.
This role is ideal for candidates who are eager to step into broader restaurant management responsibilities and who are committed to building a strong, productive team. You will take part in recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, training, and retaining top talent, providing mentorship and regular feedback to nurture future leaders within the restaurant. Your approach to leadership will emphasize accountability, recognition, and continuous development, creating a high-performance environment that promotes inclusivity and respect.
In addition to leadership and team management, the Assistant Manager supports business performance objectives such as controlling labor costs, reducing waste, managing expenses, and executing sales-driving activities aligned with company initiatives. You will be actively involved in monitoring daily operational results using various technology platforms including POS systems, scheduling tools, and reporting software. This role demands strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities to promptly address guest, team, and operational needs.
The physical demands of the role include standing and walking for extended periods of up to 12 hours per shift, frequent lifting of weights up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, and navigating across various areas of the restaurant including dining rooms and kitchens. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring adaptability during nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs dictate.
IHOP offers competitive compensation ranging from $17.87 to $24.54 per hour, depending on state and experience, with a guarantee that earnings meet or exceed state minimum wage requirements through a combination of base pay and daily tips. Additional benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance eligibility, 401k, paid time off, voluntary insurance coverage, employee assistance programs, and compliance with state and local labor regulations.
By joining the IHOP family as an Assistant Manager, you'll be part of a culture that values personal accountability, work ethic, communication, and continuous learning. IHOP embraces leadership development both at the individual and team levels, encouraging influence without authority, effective stakeholder management, disciplined execution, and consistent decision-making. Become an integral part of the IHOP team and help spread happiness one pancake at a time!
