The Assistant Manager’s role is critical for the restaurant's short and long-term success, directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational compliance. The role requires a proactive individual capable of assisting with all facets of restaurant management, including supporting guest service standards, auditing procedures, administrative tasks, human resources, and safety and security policies. Key responsibilities include ensuring the restaurant team is well-trained, motivated, and developed, which ultimately drives the achievement of fiscal goals. The Assistant Manager will be accountable for securing company assets with integrity, such as cash, equipment, and inventory, aligned with company guidelines. This position involves interaction and collaboration with the restaurant team, management personnel, and vendors, establishing trust and fostering a cohesive work environment.

In terms of daily responsibilities, the Assistant Manager will assist in recruiting and onboarding capable team members, implementing employee orientation programs, and facilitating continuous development and training. Employee relations are paramount, as the Assistant Manager will support performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address employee issues effectively while utilizing proper disciplinary procedures. Customer satisfaction is a core element, with a focus on ensuring the restaurant meets or exceeds company guest standards, leading by example to achieve 100% guest satisfaction. The Assistant Manager will also engage in financial management by tracking labor costs, managing invoices, conducting audits, and safeguarding company assets.

Operational excellence is a further key area, requiring adherence to opening and closing procedures, maintenance of cleanliness, enforcement of food safety standards, and ensuring compliance with health and sanitation codes. The Assistant Manager must communicate effectively with the restaurant general manager, district manager, and other executives regarding operational concerns and employee matters. Added to these responsibilities is compliance with company policies and marketing initiatives aimed at maximizing business growth and shift efficiency. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year restaurant management experience
  • food safety certification according to state or local requirements
  • reliable transportation
  • maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance
  • acceptable driving record for positions requiring significant business driving
  • strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • ability to operate under minimal supervision
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year restaurant management experience with quick service restaurant preferred
  • food safety certification according to state or local requirements
  • advanced studies in business, restaurant management, or related field helpful
  • ability to read and analyze reports and count accurate inventory
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to motivate a team and handle employee relations
  • knowledge of food safety, labor laws and company policies

Job Duties

  • assist in recruitment of successful shift manager and hourly candidates
  • implement and utilize company-defined employee orientation program
  • facilitate development and training plans for the restaurant team
  • build and maintain a positive and motivating work environment
  • assist in conducting performance reviews for the restaurant team
  • provide timely feedback and recognition
  • use constructive disciplinary procedures and properly document employee performance
  • ensure communication channels and problem resolution is available on all shifts
  • utilize communication processes such as bulletin boards and company postings
  • ensure restaurant meets company guest standards
  • lead the restaurant team by example to ensure 100 percent guest satisfaction
  • resolve guest complaints using company procedures
  • track, complete and manage financial controllables including labor, overtime, food and supplies
  • conduct audits and manage cash deposits
  • develop core behaviors and standards
  • ensure compliance with training standards and maintain operational manuals
  • follow proper opening, closing, safety and security procedures
  • maintain cleanliness and preventive maintenance programs
  • comply with municipal, state and federal codes including health inspections and sanitation
  • utilize food safety checklist to ensure food safety procedures are followed
  • communicate operational variances and employee issues to management
  • monitor deletions and over rings to ensure adherence to company standards
  • complete employee and restaurant paperwork timely
  • comply with and ensure execution of company policies
  • implement and execute all marketing programs fully
  • recognize business generators and plan shifts accordingly
