Job Description
Panda Express is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, founded in 1983 in Glendale, California. Over the years, it has expanded massively to nearly 2,800 locations globally, offering exceptional Asian dining experiences to customers worldwide. The brand is deeply rooted in family values and is committed to inspiring its associates to better their lives by providing continuous career development and a supportive community. At Panda Express, the focus is not only on delivering authentic and delicious food but also on creating an empowering work environment where associates can grow personally and professionally. The company embraces diversity and inclusion, offering equal opportunities to all applicants regardless of their background or personal characteristics. Panda Express takes pride in being an organization that values its team members just like family, providing them with resources, mentorship, and leadership training to ensure both individual and collective success.
The company is currently seeking experienced leaders to join their store management team as Assistant Managers. This position plays a critical role in the daily operations of a Panda Express store and involves overseeing various functions to achieve financial goals and deliver exceptional guest experiences. The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of hiring, directing associates, and maintaining smooth store operations. While this role requires a high level of leadership and operational knowledge, Panda Express supports new Assistant Managers with an extensive 3-week (or more) store leadership training program designed to prepare them thoroughly for the challenges of the role.
This full-time position offers a competitive pay range of $30 to $33 per hour, with individual compensation based on factors such as work location and experience. Additionally, Panda Express provides a generous compensation package that includes bonus opportunities. The company prioritizes associate wellbeing and offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, voluntary short-term disability, cancer income protection, pre-tax dependent care flexible spending accounts, and a 401K plan with a company match. Paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and a leave share program further ensure that associates have important personal time when needed. Working at Panda Express also comes with perks such as free meals during shifts, discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, and opportunities to contribute positively to local communities.
Working at Panda Express requires flexibility in scheduling, as the store operates within a dynamic and fast-paced environment that includes weekends and variable hours. The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work effectively in a hot, noisy kitchen environment. Employees must also demonstrate strong communication skills and adaptability to manage shifting priorities and occasional conflict situations.
Joining Panda Express means becoming part of a company with a long-standing reputation, a commitment to leadership development, and a supportive culture that values every associate. Whether you are looking to build a long-term career in food service management or want to advance your leadership skills within a thriving company, the Assistant Manager position at Panda Express offers a rewarding opportunity backed by comprehensive training and robust benefits.
