The role of the Assistant Manager (AM) at BURGER KING is pivotal in supporting the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) in running the daily operations of a single restaurant. The AM acts as the operations leader, driving profitability, guest service, people development, and overall operations management. This role involves direct management of a team consisting of 20 to 45 employees including Hourly Shift Coordinators and Team Members, ensuring that the restaurant operates efficiently and meets key performance outcomes. The Assistant Manager is responsible for managing inventory costs and conducting regular inspections to maintain inventory accuracy. They oversee ordering and receiving deliveries, track restaurant assets, and coordinate preventative maintenance of the facility and equipment through vendor interactions. Additionally, the AM enforces cash control and security procedures to safeguard financial assets.

On the guest service front, the Assistant Manager motivates the team to exceed guest expectations by delivering fast, accurate, and friendly service in a clean environment. People management is a critical aspect of the role, with the AM providing coaching and feedback to improve team capabilities and elevate restaurant performance. Operational duties include directing the team to ensure products are prepared and sold efficiently within established speed of service guidelines while upholding brand and operational standards. In situations where necessary, the Assistant Manager may also perform the duties of an Hourly Shift Coordinator to maintain seamless restaurant functionality. This role requires a proactive leader who can adapt to a fast-paced environment, reinforce company standards, and contribute to a positive customer experience. The position is full-time and demands availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular shifts to support the restaurant’s smooth operation.

Job Requirements

  • must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • high school diploma or GED required, 2 years of college preferred
  • 1-2 years of previous quick service restaurant experience, experience in management preferred
  • some understanding of P&L interpretation and management to influence profitability
  • demonstrated leadership skills
  • demonstrated understanding of guest service principles
  • available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to work long and/or irregular shifts as needed, for proper functioning of the restaurant

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • manages inventory costs and maintains inventory by performing daily, weekly, and monthly inventory inspections
  • places and receives inventory truck orders
  • maintains and regularly monitors a list of all restaurant assets
  • ensures preventative maintenance of restaurant facility and equipment is completed in accordance with company standards, interacting with external vendors as required
  • ensures that the restaurant follows all cash control and security procedures
  • motivates and directs team members to exceed guest expectations with accurate, fast, and friendly service in a clean facility
  • provides coaching and feedback to shifts coordinators and team members to increase the restaurant team's capabilities and raise restaurant performance
  • directs restaurant team toward efficient and accurate preparation and sale of products for prompt delivery within established speed of service guidelines
  • ensures that restaurant upholds operational and brand standards
  • performs duties of hourly shift coordinator when necessary
