The role of the Assistant Manager at WingHouse Bar + Grill is a vital position responsible for supporting the restaurant's operational success and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. The Assistant Manager will work closely with both the front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) teams to maintain high standards of cleanliness, service, and food quality. The position involves a mix of administrative duties, coaching and motivating employees, and ensuring that all company policies and procedures are followed meticulously.

Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing building and equipment needs, maintaining the exterior appearance of the restaurant, managing staffing schedules to meet operational goals, enforcing safety and sanitation protocols, and upholding the overall atmosphere of the location. The Assistant Manager is also accountable for handling cash and income generated at the restaurant, conducting daily line checks in both FOH and BOH, and leading staff development through training and counseling. Importantly, the role requires certification in ServSafe and Food Handling Management, emphasizing the commitment to food safety and guest well-being.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in restaurant business
  • 10+ years supervisory experience or demonstrate job requirements
  • 4-year college or university degree or equal job experience
  • Successful completion of the company’s MIT training program
  • Successful completion of company-required training such as State of Florida Management Certification
  • Completion of ongoing training or certification programs as required
  • Willingness to undergo background check in accordance with local laws and regulations

Job Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in restaurant business
  • 10+ years supervisory experience or demonstrated job requirements
  • 4-year college or university degree or equivalent job experience
  • Must successfully complete company’s MIT training program
  • Must successfully complete State of Florida Management Certification or equivalent training
  • Must attend and complete ongoing training or certification programs required by the company or position
  • Certification in ServSafe and Food Handling Management

Job Duties

  • Assess the needs of the building or equipment
  • Review safety checklists
  • Maintain exterior store appearance
  • Fill out and post front of house schedules by assigned time
  • Meet labor and operational goals through Workforce
  • Follow standard operating and sanitation procedures in back of house
  • Ensure food and menu specifications, guest and employee safety, and proper food handling
  • Ensure employee motivation and satisfaction
  • Complete Areas of Responsibilities (A.O.R.'s)
  • Maintain WingHouse standards on cleanliness, atmosphere, service, guest experience, employee interaction, and timing guidelines
  • Monitor restaurant illumination and music levels
  • Adhere to all WingHouse policies and procedures
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly administrative paperwork
  • Utilize the register (POS) system accurately
  • Accountable for all cash handling and restaurant income
  • Coach and counsel employees effectively according to company policy
  • Develop leads for both back of house and front of house employees
  • Energize and motivate staff
  • Lead others toward company goals and standards
  • Take action to solve problems with judgment and understanding
  • Hold train-the-trainer classes for all positions
  • Conduct daily line checks for front and back of house
  • Follow daily open, mid, and close procedures
  • Post daily notes in logs including shift notes, maintenance issues, and employee performance
  • Maintain certification in ServSafe and Food Handling Management
