The Assistant Manager role is designed to support the management team in the execution of various operational tasks critical to the success of each Dairy Queen restaurant. This includes managing financial performance, product quality, inventory control, personnel management, sales growth, and marketing initiatives. Assistant Managers play a vital role in upholding high standards, ensuring that the workplace is a positive and productive environment for the entire team. They are responsible for overseeing complete restaurant operations during scheduled shifts, ensuring every aspect of quality, service, and atmosphere meets or exceeds expectations. This involves hands-on operational duties such as inventory control, product ordering, and cash management.

In addition, Assistant Managers are instrumental in training shift leads and crew members, establishing a knowledgeable and well-prepared staff skilled in PRIDE systems, food safety, and company routines. They also collaborate closely with Directors and other field staff to execute business plans effectively, optimize sales and profit, and actively engage in marketing efforts to attract new customers. The role demands a strong focus on fan service, addressing customer concerns with urgency and care to foster returning customers and enhance overall loyalty. Assistant Managers must also model and enforce company policies, maintain health and safety standards including ServSafe certification, and contribute to a welcoming, cooperative work environment that maximizes employee morale and efficiency. This multifaceted position requires a dynamic individual capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant setting while balancing operational, customer service, and leadership duties.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years of high volume restaurant leadership experience
  • Previous quick service restaurant experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe certification
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature ranges
  • Ability to handle allergens safely

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of high volume restaurant leadership experience
  • Previous quick service restaurant experience strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven track record of effectively managing COGS and labor
  • Strong knowledge and application of safe food handling practices
  • Must be ServSafe certified
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Strong hospitality and customer service skills
  • Ability to train and coach others on restaurant routines and customer interaction
  • Excellent management skills with ability to motivate and resolve employee issues
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Flexible and adaptable to follow directions and meet company standards
  • High integrity and commitment to supporting a positive, fun work culture

Job Duties

  • Manage entire operation of restaurant during scheduled shifts
  • Strive for operational levels that meet or exceed the fan's expectations in quality, service, and atmosphere
  • Accurately complete designated duties such as inventory control, ordering of products, cash control
  • Ensure shift leads and crew are trained on PRIDE systems and routines, product recipes, food safety and restaurant safety practices
  • Assist in executing the restaurant's business plan, analyzing P&L and taking corrective actions
  • Address customer concerns promptly to ensure resolution and fan loyalty
  • Assist in hiring, training, coaching, and developing team members
  • Maintain safe and healthy working environment following sanitation and food safety standards
  • Support local store marketing activities and bring ideas to increase sales
  • Perform other duties as requested by the General Manager
