The role of Assistant Manager at SONIC Drive-In is a dynamic and crucial position that plays a pivotal part in the success of the restaurant's day-to-day operations. This position involves assisting the General Manager in all aspects of managing the drive-in, ensuring that the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, customer service, and efficiency are consistently met. The Assistant Manager is responsible for training, coaching, and supporting team members, including crew, carhops, and skating carhops, to maintain an enthusiastic and customer-focused environment. They help ensure smooth operations by directing assignments, monitoring compliance with company policies, and maintaining staffing, inventory, and food cost control. The role also includes hands-on involvement in administrative tasks such as record keeping and inventory completion, all within a fast-paced and customer-centric setting.

As a full-time position, the Assistant Manager will work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to keep the restaurant running optimally during peak times. Job Requirements

  • Ability to work irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays
  • general knowledge of restaurant or retail operations
  • minimum six months restaurant management or one year retail management experience
  • experience running shifts without supervision

Job Duties

  • Manages, trains, monitors and coaches team and crew members, carhops and skating carhops
  • directs and assigns drive-in restaurant employees to meet operational standards
  • adheres to and monitors employee compliance with policies and handbook
  • performs restaurant opening and closing duties
  • monitors staffing, inventory and food cost control
  • completes weekly inventory as needed
  • assists in administrative duties including maintaining files and records
  • reinforces customer service mentality
  • responds promptly and respectfully to guest requests
  • reports and assists in resolving guest complaints
