Job Description

Panda Express, founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, boasting nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. This industry-leading fast-casual dining chain is deeply committed to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, all while nurturing a corporate culture that values family, community, and the personal and professional growth of its team members. With a foundation built on family values, Panda Express has evolved into a beacon of opportunity within the restaurant sector, offering employees a supportive environment where they can thrive and expand their skills. The company is not only dedicated to outstanding food and guest services, but also to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace where equal opportunity is paramount. They comply with all federal, state, and local laws and accommodate applicants with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Candidates who require accommodations are encouraged to reach out and receive support throughout the hiring process. Their commitment to workplace equality is just one of the many ways they create a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for all associates.

The role of an Assistant Manager at Panda Express is pivotal in the daily operations and long-term success of a single store. This is a hands-on leadership role that involves assisting in the management and direction of store associates to achieve key financial objectives while delivering an exceptional guest experience. Assistant Managers play a crucial part in hiring, training, motivating, and guiding the team to uphold Panda Express’s high standards of quality and service. The position requires a dynamic individual who is flexible with their schedule, capable of working at any store location within a 50-mile radius, and who has the ability to adapt quickly within a fast-paced, sometimes physically demanding environment.

Panda Express provides comprehensive support to new leaders through a paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks, equipping Assistant Managers with the practical skills necessary to excel in their role. The salary range offered for this position is $22 to $25 per hour, determined by work location and experience. Alongside competitive compensation, Panda Express offers a robust benefits package that includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, as well as several voluntary insurance options like short-term disability and cancer income protection for full-time associates. Additionally, they provide a 401(k) plan with company matching, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and a unique Leave Share Program. Employees enjoy tangible perks such as free meals during shifts, discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, and opportunity bonuses. Unique to Panda Express are their initiatives for continuous education assistance, scholarships, and career advancement opportunities, reflecting their dedication to investing in the growth and success of their associates. This position is not just a job — it’s a stepping stone toward a rewarding career within one of the most respected and fastest-growing restaurant groups in the nation.
