Job Description

Panda Express is a renowned American fast-food restaurant chain that specializes in American Chinese cuisine. Established in 1983 in Glendale, California, it has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with close to 2,800 locations worldwide. Panda Express takes pride in its commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering a company culture that values family, community, and the personal development of its associates. The company places a strong emphasis on career growth, leadership development, and creating a supportive environment where employees are inspired to better their lives both professionally and personally.

As an Assistant Manager at Panda Express, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of a single store location. Your responsibilities include overseeing the hiring, management, and direction of associates to meet financial goals and ensure the delivery of exceptional guest experiences. This leadership position requires a combination of operational savvy, strong communication skills, and the ability to motivate and develop a team within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. To prepare you for success, Panda Express provides a comprehensive paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks, mentorship from experienced leaders, and ongoing support from a close-knit Panda community. In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence your store’s success directly by maintaining high standards and fostering an environment that supports teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $23 to $26, influenced by factors such as work location and experience. In addition to competitive pay, Panda Express offers a generous compensation package with bonus opportunities, reflecting the company’s dedication to rewarding hard work and leadership excellence. The role also provides various health, vision, and dental insurance options, along with voluntary short-term disability and cancer income protection insurance for full-time associates. Other benefits include pre-tax dependent care flexible spending accounts, 401K with company match, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement and funeral leave, as well as a Leave Share Program. Employees also enjoy perks such as free meals while working, discounts on gym memberships and theme parks, and opportunities to participate in community engagement programs.

Working at Panda Express means joining a brand that values inclusion and diversity, embracing equal opportunity employment without discrimination based on a variety of protected characteristics. The company complies fully with federal, state, and local laws related to workplace accommodations, ensuring an accessible work environment for all. The role demands physical stamina, as team members may be standing for long periods, working in hot kitchen environments, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. A flexible schedule is required, including availability on weekends, and there is a geographical work radius of up to 50 miles from the store location. Importantly, the company requires all candidates to be Serve Safe certified, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. At Panda Express, you’ll find a culture that fosters career advancement, continuous education, leadership development, and a supportive team environment that encourages you to thrive and advance your career in restaurant management.
