Job Description
Panda Express, a leading name in the American fast-casual dining industry, is renowned for its delicious Asian-inspired cuisine and commitment to excellence. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with close to 2,800 locations globally. The company prides itself on fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace environment that empowers associates to grow both professionally and personally. At its core, Panda Express embraces family values and is dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities it serves. This dedication extends beyond its food, as the company invests heavily in the development and success of its associates through comprehensive leadership training, mentorship programs, and career advancement opportunities.
As an Assistant Manager at Panda Express, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of a single store. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in managing and directing the store's team of associates to achieve financial goals and deliver exceptional guest experiences. This position offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about leadership and restaurant operations. You will be entrusted with hiring, training, and managing staff while ensuring that all operational standards and company policies are met or exceeded. To prepare you for success, Panda Express provides an extensive leadership training program lasting three or more weeks, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage your store.
The role requires flexibility, as you must be willing to work within a 50-mile radius of your assigned store and maintain a flexible schedule that includes weekends. Safety and quality are paramount; therefore, certification such as Serve Safe Food Safety training is required to uphold the highest standards in food service. The job environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, involving standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in high-temperature kitchen areas. Effective communication, adaptability to changing priorities, and strong conflict resolution skills are essential to succeed as an Assistant Manager at Panda Express.
In return for your dedication and hard work, Panda Express offers a competitive hourly pay range of $23 to $26, supplemented by a generous compensation package that includes bonus opportunities. Full-time associates gain access to comprehensive benefits such as medical, vision, dental, and voluntary short-term disability insurance. Additional perks include paid training, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and a leave share program that supports associates in times of need. There are also excellent retirement benefits with a 401K plan including company match, pre-tax dependent care flexible spending accounts, and income protection including disability, life, and AD&D insurance. The company further offers discounts on gym memberships, theme parks, and other lifestyle benefits, emphasizing a well-rounded support system for its employees.
Panda Express is dedicated to equal opportunity employment and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The company strictly prohibits discrimination based on any legally protected characteristic and is proactive in providing reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Their inclusive hiring practices, focus on associate well-being, and investment in personal and career development make Panda Express an outstanding place to build a career in the restaurant industry.
