As an Applebee's Assistant Manager within Flynn Group, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that guests and staff alike are engaged and passionate about their experience. This leadership position demands excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to manage stress effectively, and a commitment to fostering a positive team environment. Your responsibilities will include ensuring timely, friendly service, managing inventory, overseeing product quality, scheduling employees efficiently to meet sales demands, and maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and sanitation. Additionally, you will be instrumental in employee development through training, performance evaluation, and fostering a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee's core values. This is a hands-on role, requiring flexibility to assist in various positions within the restaurant as needed, from cooking to seating guests. The assistant manager is also tasked with ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, controlling departmental costs, and handling administrative duties such as daily paperwork and inventory management. Flynn Group supports continuous growth through their Management Development Program, encouraging leadership skill advancement and proficiency. This role is crucial in delivering an outstanding dining experience while promoting team cohesion and operational excellence.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • ability to work various shifts including weekends
  • ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 10 hours
  • ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to read and write for communication
  • finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment
  • Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol Certifications a plus

Job Duties

  • Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
  • cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of our core values and beliefs
  • ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
  • ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
  • maintains departmental inventory levels
  • ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards by performing line checks
  • effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
  • maintains effective safety and security programs
  • promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
  • performs routine maintenance and immediately reports to the General Manager/Area Director of needed repairs
  • promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates
  • promotes Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers
  • helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems
  • participates in the constant development of employees using One-on-One and performance documentation, and contributes to the completion of written evaluations
  • assesses the efficiency of employees, provides fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with employees on their areas of development
  • monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action
  • assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
  • responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
  • compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines
  • drives bi-weekly / weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion
  • responsible for preparing and submitting accurate daily paperwork
  • assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
  • provides a role model for managers and employees
  • develops self on all store related technology
  • must be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed when in a restaurant, including cooking on the line, expo, seating guests, bartending, etc.
  • uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
