Job Description

Panda Express is a leading name in the American Chinese fast-casual dining industry, widely recognized for its commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences. Founded in Glendale, California, in 1983, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned American Chinese Restaurant concept in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations globally. The company prides itself on fostering a family-oriented culture that values each associate as part of the Panda community, investing heavily in their professional and personal development. Panda Express is dedicated to building an organization where people are inspired to better their lives while making a positive impact on the neighborhoods and communities they serve. Being an Equal Opportunity Employer, Panda Express embraces diversity and inclusivity, complying fully with all federal, state, and local laws related to workplace accommodations and protections. They maintain a strong commitment to equal opportunity for all, prohibiting discrimination on any legally protected characteristic, while also providing reasonable accommodations to ensure every candidate and associate can thrive within the company.

The role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express is a critical leadership position responsible for supporting the operation and success of a single store. This role involves overseeing the hiring, management, and development of store associates and directing the team to achieve financial goals and operational excellence. The Assistant Manager ensures the delivery of exceptional guest experiences by maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and customer service. A key part of the role is to participate in and sometimes lead the store management, ensuring all processes are aligned with company goals and values. To prepare for success, Panda Express provides comprehensive store leadership training lasting three or more weeks, including hands-on paid training and ongoing career development opportunities. The position demands flexibility to work within a 50-mile radius of the store, a willingness to manage varying schedules including weekends, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Additionally, Panda Express supports its Assistant Managers with a robust benefits package that includes free meals during work shifts, competitive compensation with bonus opportunities, and comprehensive health-related insurance coverage, including medical, vision, dental, and voluntary short-term disability policies. Associates have access to a 401K plan with company match, pre-tax dependent care flexible spending account, paid time off, paid holidays, bereavement leave, and an inclusive leave share program. Beyond financial and health benefits, associates enjoy discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, opportunities for community engagement, and access to continuous education assistance and scholarships. The role offers pathway opportunities for growth into higher management positions through structured mentorship and leadership development programs. Panda Express values skills such as food safety certification (Serve Safe), adaptability, effective communication, and the ability to manage conflicts in a dynamic environment. The Assistant Manager role is designed for individuals ready to embrace challenges, contribute actively to the company’s mission, and grow professionally within one of America’s fastest-growing restaurant chains.
