Job Description
Panda Express is a leading fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in American Chinese cuisine. Founded in Glendale, California in 1983, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned Asian dining concept in the United States with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The company is renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences while fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment for its associates. Panda Express operates with a strong emphasis on family values, community impact, and personal and professional growth for its employees. This dedication is exemplified through their comprehensive training programs, career development opportunities, and employee benefits designed to support the well-being and success of their team members.
The role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express is a pivotal leadership position responsible for the daily operations of a single store. As an Assistant Manager, you will take charge of managing the store's workforce, directing associates, and ensuring the achievement of financial and customer service goals. This includes responsibilities such as hiring, training, and mentoring team members to align with Panda Express standards and culture. The Assistant Manager leads by example and plays a crucial role in creating an environment where exceptional guest experiences are consistently delivered.
To prepare candidates for success, Panda Express provides a paid Store Management Leadership Training program lasting three or more weeks. This hands-on training equips new leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to effectively manage store operations and lead a motivated team. The store environment requires the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic setting with fluctuating priorities and often high noise levels. Employees are expected to manage physical demands, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and utilizing kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Compensation for this role ranges between $30 and $33 per hour, depending on factors such as location and experience. Beyond competitive pay, Panda Express offers a generous compensation package that includes potential bonus opportunities. The company is committed to the health and well-being of its full-time associates by providing comprehensive medical, vision, dental, and voluntary short-term disability insurance. Other benefits include a 401(k) plan with company matching, paid time off including holidays and bereavement leave, and pre-tax flexible spending accounts for dependent care. Panda Express also provides discounts for entertainment and gym memberships, educational assistance and scholarships, and opportunities for community involvement.
Panda Express embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. The company complies with all federal, state, and local laws related to workplace accommodations and prohibits discrimination based on sex, race, gender identity, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected characteristics. Applicants requiring accommodations during the hiring process are encouraged to reach out for support. As part of a company that truly values its associates, an Assistant Manager at Panda Express will find excellent opportunities for career advancement, leadership development, and a strong, supportive community dedicated to their growth and success.
